Hi fellow Sparklers!

TC and I did great on the Appalachian Trail. We were NOT the slowest in the group (my fear), in fact we were usually in the first wave. Yay! The "roller coaster" in Virginia was really a killer, but we did it! We met a number of thru hikers, toured two thru-hiker hostels, and really enjoyed soaking up the culture of the AT. It was a great experience. It was definitely enough to cross "hike the AT" off my bucket list!

After the AT trip we went to Rickets Glen State Park in Pennsylvania for three nights and hiked their Falls Trail two days in a row. There are 22 waterfalls on a 7.2 mile loop, ranging in height from 12 feet to 92 feet! We tried to do this trail two years ago but I didn't have hiking shoes OR poles and I chickened out halfway through. YES, it is as steep, as wet, and as slippery (in spots) as they warn. But this time, with all our preparation and experience we were able to do it easily. HIGHLY recommend this hike if you are anywhere near the area. I'll post pictures when we get home. It was an "A+".

TC and I are now in Massachusetts, at a state park near our daughter's house. No electricity at this park either, but we see our daughter daily so I can charge my computer and MiFi device at her house. Still won't be able to do as much Sparking as I want, my computer is several years old and you know how fast batteries give out! I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with all of you.

We've enjoyed seeing our 20-week old granddaughter! She is so animated now! She smiles, frowns, and loves looking at the "baby in the mirror." Love that girl. She is still tiny -- 23" long but weighs only 10 pounds. Don't worry, her Dad is 6'5" tall so I'm sure she'll catch up!

Somewhere in our travels I lost my Fitbit charging station! This is devastating to me!!! But there you have it. So if you are my "friend" on the Fitbit website, know I am not eating bonbons by the pool -- I just can't upload my data and will be out of juice in a day or so.
Kindly, someone in the Fitbit community responded to my woes and will be sending me their extra docking station. But I probably won't get it before my Fitbit finally peters out....

This week will be about spending time with the daughter, SIL and granddaughter. We will spend one day taking the "T" into Boston on our own. Then next week we are off to Franconia in New Hampshire to hike. Can't wait for that!

So that's what's going on here. I haven't been on the scale in a few days but I think I'm up about 5 pounds from my ticker. I'm trying to make the best choices I can without denying myself. I'm trying not to stress -- we'll be back home by July 1 so we can attend our Monday 8:30 a.m. bike class! Then I'll be hitting the gym hard!

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Take care and keep up the good work!!!

What a great summer you and TC are having. I know you are soaking up every minute of it and you should be!

Keep up the good work - I can only imagine how you felt when you "easily" conquered those Falls Trail. All your work is paying off big time!!

You are an inspiration to a lot of us!

PS - forgot to say enjoy that time with the granddaughter!!

I'm glad you were able to check in. I had noticed that your fitbit numbers were going down. I just thought you were on a trip and the numbers would skyrocket as soon as your fitbit got near your dongle. lol.

I love hearing about all the parks you visit. Someday maybe we'll make it to the east coast with our trailer.

Can't wait to see the waterfall pics.
A baby's smile just melts your heart and you forget everything else. :) I'm glad that you are enjoying time with her.
Franconia Notch is still a lovely area even if the Old Man of the Mountain is now gone. I'm looking forward to your take on the area.
