On Spark Coach, consistency program, our challenge for the day is to not eat anything after 7 PM, or after dinner. This is not bacause it will magically turn to fat as many people think, but because you will automatically eat fewer calories.
I guess they have a good point, especially if one is inclined to sit in front of the TV and munch mindlessly. However, I am sure there are many out there who don't do the mindless munching at night (perhaps in the afternoon??). I guess I have me parents to thank for a healthy habit they instilled in my 7 siblings and myself. I grew up in a home where the kitchen did close after dinner. Probably because they couldn't afford to have 8 kids munching mindlessly all evening. Whatever reason, thanks Mom and Dad for being an example of healthy life styles.
As far as eating after dinner, I plan out my evening snack so that it fits into my calorie allowance. I guess it's dessert, but I like to wait for an hour or so after dinner to enjoy my dessert. It's usually a fruit smoothie: banana or strawberry, 1/2 cup of skim milk, 4-5 ice cubes all whirled up in my Ninja blender, finished off with 1 tablespoon of Hershey's lite chocolate syrup. (ummm) It works for me.
