Weíve lived in Pa Dutch country for 8 years now and I still get a kick out of seeing the horses and buggies on the roads. I drove to my docís today, a ride that takes 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and time of year, since we live in a tourist area. I drive through small towns with interesting names, White Horse, Bird-In-Hand, Intercourse, and beautiful countryside. The Amish were out and busy today. I passed three horse drawn farm equipment pieces, three large wagons filled with hale bales and produce, and at least a dozen horses and buggies, all along the route I take to my docís. In addition there were a lot of Amish farmers out working their fields with their horse drawn equipment. What a sight ! I love it! On the way home I passed a group of Amish girls walking barefoot along the shoulder of the road.
When we first moved here Iíd run to the front window every time Iíd hear buggies go by. I still love seeing them pass. The first time my Mom visited she thought it was awful that the horses pooped as they went by and said whoever was driving the buggy should stop and clean it up ! Now sheís used to it and doesnít even notice.
I stopped at the local farm market on my way home and picked up some fresh home grown tomatoes. They always have some early in the season and theyíre yummy ! I had one for lunch and it was delicious ! Think Iíll have another at dinner. I also was naughty and bought a couple of apple dumplings, they have the best ones around, and some whoopie pies, for hubby and I.
I got good news at the doc. A year ago I started taking Red Yeast Rice for my cholesterol. My doc knew I didnít want to go back on lovastatin and recommended the Red Yeast Rice. Well, itís working ! A year ago, before starting it, my cholesterol was in the 220ís. I just had it checked last week and itís down to 190 ! Woo Hoo ! She was as thrilled as me !
