Yesterday for lunch, my health coach and I got together to go over my progress and check in. It had been the first time she'd seen me in person since I started the program, and although she had seen the pictures I sent her, she was stunned.
"Girl, you lost a toddler!"
To illustrate just how MUCH I lost, we headed to Whole Foods and found 85 pounds worth of STUFF. I tried to carry it in my arms while standing, but I found I just couldn't!
It was then that I was like, "Oh, crap, how did I EVER carry all this around?!" No wonder my knees ached, my feet hurt, I panted when climbing stairs! I can't even carry 85 pounds in my arms now - my body must have been SCREAMING at me to get rid of this excess weight!!
This was an absolutely great exercise, and I recommend it to everyone. Either head to your closet or to your grocery store, and pick up a bag (or 10!) representing how much weight you've lost. Maybe it will be a 5 pound sack of potatoes, maybe it will be a 10 pound bag of dogfood, maybe it will be a 25 pound box of cat litter, maybe it will be 3X 25 pound bags of rice + 2X 5 pound bags of potatoes like me! The point is, feel that weight in your arms. THAT is what you got rid of. THAT is no longer on your body.
And you know the most awesome thing? That bag of dogfood or kitty litter or potatoes can be put away in the closet or pantry, and you don't have to carry it around all day!
I was so glad to put those 25 pound bags of rice away after we got the picture. I'd much rather have the weight in those bags than I would on this body.
