shifting my priorities in the moment

Tuesday, June 04, 2013

"What we are really doing in those situations is using memory, anticipation, and an appeal to our most basic values to shift our in-the-moment priorities"

Great article by Dean Anderson on spark "Give Yourself a Reality Check-Up"

While I think it is a dangerous oversimplification, I like the behaviorist part of the approach, plus a sensory/emo awareness. I am still looking for the sensory trigger to help me shift out of crave eating. I ate four pieces of white bread yesterday. While it is okay, I could have benefitted from healthier, more nutrient laden carbs like a mango.

Work in progress!

Crave eating isn't necessarily bad, but four slices as opposed to one might be a little over the top. Most experts say you should give in to a craving, because you may eat more food trying to substitute for what you really want.

You can do it. I have faith in you. I knit so that I can keep my hands busy. It works wonders and I get something out of it.
