smaller goals.....less Lucky Charms....

I have been thinking I need to cut carbs, and I was really serious about doing it...then I ate a total of 5 bowls of Lucky Charms in one day...yup 5.

They are magically delicious....
Dangit!
I think it is time to focus on smaller goals, and changes, and try not to put so much attention on the bigger things. So, after looking (again) at what I am doing, how I feel throughout the day, and what I tend to snack on, this is what- I have decided to handle it by...

#1- I am going to really try and eat slower. I think I eat way too fast, and then either over eat, or just keep craving the same thing because I didnt get a chance to really taste it....

#2- I am going to work on drinking more water, even if I have to use the flavor drops, at least I am getting the water in. It may even help my sweet tooth to use some flavoring, especially if I am just getting the munchies....

#3- Stop checking out the clock....I swear my thoughts are always focused on when I should eat again...its like I function for the next meal....

#4- Even if I absolutely do not want to work out, do at least 10 minutes...10 minutes is better than nothing, and chances are I will continue to do it to at least 20, which is my ultimate daily goal. Most times I can do that, but today was one of those days I just did not want to work out. I got a cruddy nights sleep, and was pooped, but I started to do a little and ended up doing 30....

I really want to get toned and lose this extra 10 pounds that have crept back on....I have my next cruise to motivate me still, and I cant wait. I keep trying to keep a clear picture of myself on the beach, in cute summer clothes, and in a nice dress to keep me going...that does seem to help. Just need to keep moving! Oh, and I have decided not to buy Lucky Charms for a while!

    emoticon No. 1 is tough for me too! I think it was being in basic training in the Army that made me eat fast. Then it became habit and 20 years later it is difficult to change. I think it can be done though....maybe putting the fork down between bites instead of shoveling it in....or like you said, chewing!
#2 yes! water plus flavor = more water! I use MIO drops and I love them.
#3 I am guilty of this also....my day (or night) is divided up by the clock and meals so that is a tough one to break.
#4 You can do it. Just remember how great you feel after a good sweat session! That normally is enough to motivate me. But the 10min thing is good if that works for you - anything that will get you started!
You will have that 10 pounds off in no time!

    Little changes do add up.

I would suggest getting rid of the lucky charms, and swapping something like Kashi GoLean in its place. You wont be as inclined for its magically delicious sweetness, and can therefore focus on eating for nutrition instead.

    Looks like a great set of goals. I also struggle with #1, and have to constantly tell myself to pay attention to the taste & chew longer!
Yes, they are magically delicious...I don't buy them anymore either! LOL! (Same goes for poptarts!)
#3 is also interesting...I never really thought about it, but I think I do the same thing!
I hope you lose the 10 before your cruise! Good luck!
