Once more unto the beach...

Monday, June 03, 2013

Even though I don't want to get hung up on weight, I was getting tired of my clothes getting slowly tighter and tighter. I've made a few changes over the past year that did diddly-squat for halting this process, so I decided to give my metabolism a real kick in the butt by repeating the South Beach diet. I did it about 7, 8 years ago with good - but not permanent - success. This time around, with everything I've learned from SP, I hope I can make it last. Lost 5 pounds the first week which is to be expected. I know it's not "true fat" but at least it's a sign that something is happening.

I don't think carbs are "bad" but maybe I've got to be more restrictive. I've never met a pastry I didn't like, and baked goods are everywhere, easy to buy, easy to make, easy to grab and throw in my lunch bag. Low carb food takes more time to prepare but I've just got to take the time, at least for now.

You can do it! You've identified a pitfall, which is that the "bad" food is too accessible. Maybe try to find easy, accessible, low-carb options? Like those ThinkThin bars, or those nut butter packets (can put them on celery or apple slices). emoticon Or if you must have something baked and sweet, at least make it yourself so that you have control over the ingredients. In that way, you also actually earn the treat, because you took the effort to make it. Sometimes smoothies and oatmeal with lots of cinnamon can satisfy when the sweet tooth strikes. Not low carb, but definitely better for you than pastry! Good luck and keep posting!

I've met people that use this as a kick start and have found it really helpful, way to go!
