Thought and Prayer for Monday, June 3, 2013

If you are Twitter-friendly, you know that RT means retweet. We often have others retweet our tweets and we thank them. Sometimes we retweet as well and we are thanked. We can also thank God for RTs. Not retweets, but resisting tempting. Usually we are tempted more than once each day. We must not give in to temptation, but resist temptation (RT). God can help us with RTs every day. We can RT every day when we keep watch and pray giving God the glory for His power which helps us to resist temptation.

Matthew 26:41 “Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” (NLT)

Dear Lord, thank You for allowing us to know when to resist temptation. We know our bodies are weak and it is easier to give in to temptation at times. We also know Your strength and power are awesome and we can depend on You through reading Your word and prayer to help us resist temptation. Help us to keep our minds strong in Your word, to keep watch and to pray so we can depend on You when we are tempted knowing You will give us what we need to resist temptation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Resisting temptation isn’t about our ability and talents. It is about how close our relationship is with God.

Knowing that God gives us what we need to resist temptation should encourage us to spend more time with Him.

When we are tempted it is sometimes too late to go back and do what we should have done to prepare for temptation.

The time is now to prepare for the next temptation in our lives. Know what things could happen and what our response is going to be.

God tells us in order to resist temptation, we are to be watchful and to pray. He also tells us we are to be humble before Him. It’s time we made some changes in our lives so we are better prepared to resist temptation.

James 4:7 “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (NLT)
