The Death Wail!

Monday, June 03, 2013

When I sit in my recliner during the night I hear many birds and also the waterfall that is just down the cliff from my front yard. I can often hear church singing coming up from the plateau below. But tonight I hear the DEATH WAIL. Yes, I hear lots of wailing at the hospital. That means someone has died, someone who is from around here to have enough friends or acquaintances to mourn them. Tonight it must be an adult as not that many voices would be wailing for the death of a child. Perhaps it was someone from this village. The death just took place (or hasn't quite happened) as I didn't hear wailing until about five minutes ago. It must not be a Pastor or his wife or someone well known to our local church as there are no church bells ringing. Tonight's death must have been unexpected as the wailing goes on and on. People often wail to show that "they haven't caused the death". The wailing tonight is as if this person or his family had no HOPE.

Bible Verses which give me HOPE in an afterlife.

John 11:25 - Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 5:24 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Luke 23:43 - And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Hebrews 9:27 - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 - But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

Today's Positives:
1. I have HOPE in Christ, HOPE in an afterlife with HIM.
2. I just finished 36 years of working at a Christian hospital in Africa.
3. My last living Uncle and Aunt (Dad's brother and sister) are 90 years old and 82 years old and both are in the hospital right now, one in PA and one in MN. I may never see either one of them again on this earth but they too have HOPE so I WILL see them again one day!

P.S. They wailing stopped for now. Perhaps the the family found a truck to transport their loved one's body back to their village or else they moved the body to the morgue which is a bit further away from where I live. There is a mortuary about an hour and a half from here where they can do embalming but that is not always done here.

By the way, the windows in my house have screens and shutters but no glass, the reason I can hear what is going on outside so well.

I don't know you but one of my friends must bc I saw your blog on my feed. I TOO HAVE HOPE IN CHRIST, and I praise God daily for the gift of his Son Jesus.

Also I am a teacher and June for most teachers is the best month of the year bc by then we are usually so worn out and need the rest to be ready to do it again. I love teaching, feel it is one of my gifts and the greatest moment for me is when the kids get it. And by that I mean, learn to like to read. I get goose bumps, really. I know it will enrich their lives to the point where they may remember me for this one thing and that makes me smile.

As I was reading your blog, I was confused, not knowing where you are from, I assumed that you were from America. We can be so single minded, can't we. Isn't everyone from America, the greatest country in the world. Uh, no!!! So then, thank you for the clarification on the death wail. We don't get much of that here in the States. But being a diverse populating of peoples, it does happen now and then.

You also answered the question about your students not ever getting to use a computer? This one and the response to the teacher's being off in June are from a different blog of yours. I don't usually respond to strangers blogs unless I need an answer to a question, and I do. So here it is: You stated that you have no windows, only screens and shutters. Are the shutters solid, like a window that you cannot see out of, I am guessing. So my question is why no windows, is it lack of the material glass to replace them or no need for them. It just intrigued me so much that I had to ask. Great blogs both of them, this one and the one titled "It is time to act."

BTW, where are you from originally. If I am being to nosey, you can tell me so and I would understand.

Sorry for the loss in your community of someone, it is not a great thing, unless like us on our way to paradise, then it is a celebration.

    Wow,
I just love when you teach the culture! Amazing! Thank you.
I may copy and paste this blog - and any others that describe and explain the culture in ways that a textbook or "Google" won't.
I have to come up with an elective to teach my emotionally disturbed high school students. I proposed a couple of ideas to the principal, one of which was a "culture" class - not so much history but what people think, say, do in other countries. =)
So consider this a huge direct hint to write more blogs like this one!

So thankful that we do, indeed, have HOPE of our salvation and our eternity with Him...

A verse verse I recently memorized - I John 5:13 - These things I have written to you who believe n the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

That must be very hard to listen to, Carolyn. I would probably cry along with them. Those are beautiful bible verses you shared. Thank you! Hope you're having a great day!

Hugs,

Belief in an afterlife and the knowledge that it is a good place is the difference between being positive and despair. With some of the horrible things that have taken place in my life I could not be as happy as I am without this belief. The Almighty has been so good to us, human beings mess it all up. But that is what we are here for, to learn and aspire to goodness. Spark has been one of the gifts from the Almighty for me also my darling husband.

I am so sad when I hear about someone dying who had no hope. With Christ, there is hope eternal.
I may not meet you in this lifetime, but I will see you in Heaven.
