Get it, girl.

LOL I love people sometimes. Well, almost always, to be honest. But anyways...
I like going for walks before/after work and during lunch. Gets me some more exercise to break up periods of sitting around at work/on my lengthy commute, plus I get fresh air and (hopefully) some sunshine, which always improves my mood and alertness.
It's been so hot and sunny lately, though, that I've had to start bringing my giant granny hat with the super-wide brim to try to keep some of the sun off so I don't get burned or too overheated (I'm still amazed by how much cooler a good wide-brimmed hat can keep you in bright sunshine). And I've already started getting comments from random people I pass by. I used to get comments on it all the time in West Virginia - people would kind of laughingly say something to the effect of "that's a great hat." I don't think anyone was truly mocking my admittedly ridiculous hat, but just enjoying it because not too many people rock a big ol' granny hat like that these days. It's just not so trendy. But skin cancer doesn't care what's trendy!
So anyways, I was thoroughly amused when a woman getting gas called out to me, "You go, homegirl, work that hat!" And then today as I was beginning my walk I put the hat on, and a man driving by called out his window, "Get it, girl!"
I will, thanks! Unless by "it" you mean skin cancer...in which case I totally WON'T because fashion be damned, I am not irradiating myself more than necessary! :) Health is multi-faceted, and I didn't literally work my butt off and learn to eat healthy/exercise more just to fall short when it comes to other aspects of disease prevention and living a healthy lifestyle! So a big woohoo to my rockin' hat!
