There can be so many journeys in life. I bet you can name off a few that you have labored through and some you have danced through. I don't know about your journeys and how you tackled them, but there have been some journeys I sang all the way through; they were fun and enjoyable and came to a natural end.
Attitude is 90% of the battle. To win the battle in attitude, I am learning that I absolutely must put a song in my heart and a smile on my face. I have heard it said that laughter is a good medicine that reaches down through the marrow of the bone. Music soothes the savage beast. To change my attitude from thinking of something as hard and grueling I must surround myself with people and things that make me laugh and sing.
I walked with Leslie Sansone this morning on line. She has a video that I can exercise with and she leads people in a 5 minute 500 steps routine. It is fun and she is full of energy. The first time I worked with the video I could not keep up with her no matter how hard I tried. Talk about feeling discouraged! This is a gal who used to hike up Castle Craigs to the base of the dome. It was thrilling for me and exhilarating. I changed my attitude to I CAN DO THIS with practice and time, I WILL DO THIS.
Today I did my stretch and warm up, then turned the video on and walked with Leslie. Guess what.... Ah shucks, you guessed. Yes, I kept up with her and the fast paced walk was over before I knew it. I just might walk through that video again sometime today.
I proved today Attitude is 90% of the battle. What's 10% when you've conquered the 90%? A piece of cake, that's what!
Here's to Sparkin' with you!
