Thought and Prayer for Saturday, June 1, 2013

Every day, we are tempted. Every day, we have choices. We can choose to do right or we can choose to do wrong. Even our friends will ask us to do something with them or for them that is wrong saying it will be okay just this once. That is satan talking, not our friend. We have to resist temptation and go to God to help us. When we are in a situation where we are tempted, we need to fall to our knees and pray. God is all we need to help us resist temptation and He alone can deliver us from evil.
James 4:7 “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know we need You. We come humbly before You today to ask You to help us to turn away from temptation today, to resist the devil and know that he will flee from us. No matter who asks us to do wrong for whatever reason, help us to remember that we are Your children and You command us to do that which is right. Thank You, Lord, for Your mighty power and strength and saving grace that is going to help us to resist temptation today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Temptation to do wrong comes only from the devil, no one else. He just uses others to tempt us to do wrong. We can resist with God’s help.
When others tell us to do something that is not right, we have to be strong enough to say no.
Just because everyone else is doing something that is not right according to God’s word, it doesn’t make it right.
“Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.” – St. Augustine
When we resist temptation and do what God wants us to do, relationships with others may get shaky but our relationship with God will be stronger.
Deuteronomy 6:18a “Do what is right and good in the LORD’s sight, so all will go well with you.” (NLT)
