The 16 Year Old Me Would Kick The 31 Year Old Me Butt!!

Friday, May 31, 2013

I was looking at my old high school yearbook, and after seeing my pic I could not help but think that if my 16 year old self ran into me today I would kick my own butt for messing up the body I worked so hard on.
In that photo I was 110 lbs, a gymnast, and a dancer. I was in a strict diet, and worked out for hours everyday. My mom, dad, and sister where all over weight and I told myself back then that I would never let that happen to me. Then I got married, had kids, lost focus and guess what caught me.

Now my kids are older, it is time for to regain focus and get back to work on me.

Today is my day one on my journey to healthy, fit, and happy me. I plan on being that woman that 16 year old girl dreamed that she would be at 31. It is time for me to live the life I have always wanted and not just being here to be here.
I worked hard once and I know I can do it again. Wish me luck on my journey, and I wish you the of luck on yours.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my ramblings.

You gave me a great idea! I am going to put an old picture of myself on the fridge for motivation. I began my journey Monday, so you and I are not far off from eachother. It is going to be hard but well worth it in the end. Good Luck to you!!

How about writing to your younger self, not to apologize for the weight gain, but to tell her about your goals and dreams? Tell her what steps you'll take to do better and reach your goals. Tell her you're excited to get back to eating healthy and exercising like she did because you want to feel happy and healthy like she did. Consider the supportive and helpful response she would give you.

Since, getting back in shape I seem to have turned the clock back a bit. I took my little 26 year old cousin to my group personal training class and definitely kicked her butt. She had to sit down and rest and could not lift weights as heavy as mine. Of course, I lent her a hand up and congratulated her for getting in the game. This is what the 16 year old you, would do for you. Being 60, I can tell you, you have to do some adjustments for age, lifestyle, etc. but the important thing is just be the best you can be for who you are right now. You are off to a great start! Welcome to the Peppy Party too! We are glad to have you on board! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Maybe, but I think your 16 year old self would understand and would be more of a cheerleader than a butt-kicker! Good luck with your journey!

I try not to compare myself today to me when I was younger and pre kids. When I look back life was so much easier and simpler then and I did not appreciate it. Today life is busy and some days are just HARD but as long as I continue to take steps to better myself and acknowledge the good things I feel like I have made progress.

I hope that the 16 y/o would love your 31 y/o self, appreciate that you have built a human (or 2??), but also applaud you for putting yourself on your own list!!

the very best of luck to you.
