Wow, where DID it all go? The last couple of weekends have been CRA-ZY. Memorial Day weekend I stayed in town, but that Friday night I went out to see a play. Saturday I went rowing and spent half the morning hanging out and chatting with my girlfriends. Got a ton of gardening done and then went out for a lovely dinner with a different girlfriend. Sunday morning I went on a wild food identification walk - it was awesome, I can't wait to start eating the weeds! Then I had not one but TWO dates, a lunch date and an afternoon walk in the park date. Yes, I have been dating online, why do you ask? Anyway, neither one of those guys are going to call me back but I am OK with that. I have a thick skin about the dating thing at this point, well mostly. I am turning into an online dating expert at this point, ask me anything. ANYWAY, Sunday evening was topped off with an amazing dinner to support a local community garden. (And probably one too many glasses of wine.) Then on Monday there was more gardening, carshopping, and dinner with my fabulous brother. So the weekend, all in all, was fun-packed and non-stop!
Then the weekend BEFORE that I took the Friday off and went camping and kayaking up in Oklahoma. That was SO MUCH FUN. It was just super relaxing to spend so much time in nature. And the group I went with was great. Although I have to admit kayaking was not all that much exercise. But it was fine, it was just nice to be out and away from things and in nature.
SO. THAT is why I haven't been around Spark much lately. AND, that is why, for the last TWO weeks, I have not been doing so well on my food. I have a new thing I have to remember. I absolutely MUST keep some microwavable frozen dinners in my freezer ready to eat. My new plan is, whenever I go by the grocery store, to swing by the frozen meal section and just pick up a couple of whatever is healthy and on sale. BECAUSE, when I don't have frozen meals ready, and I don't feel like shopping or cooking, I JUST DON'T EAT. I just sort of snack a little bit on what I can grab. So I'll do things like have a bowl of cereal, or some trail mix, or some sardines and crackers. Because I mostly keep healthy snacks around anyway, I don't keep potato chips or cookies around. BUT, none of those things are FRESH and they are NOT vegetables. AND, they are probably NOT enough calories for me to get by on. In fact I am sure they are not. I think even though I am STILL being lazy and not food logging at the moment, that I can kind of tell when I am not eating enough calories because I FEEL LIKE CR*P when I pull that stuff.
So. Note to self, have the (good) frozen meals on hand for when you just can't get it together enough to cook.
Anyway. More later. I have been listening to some of Jillian Michael's podcasts and I definitely need to make some more goals for myself, fitness and otherwise. I feel like May has been a lot of FUN, and I definitely haven't gained any weight, but I have a race at the end of June (last one of the sprint season) and I don't feel like I have been doing enough on my fitness goals. So I need to blog about that next.
Yay, tomorrow's Friday, woohoo!
