there are a lot of challenging things about apartment life, but i really appreciate having a free fitness center. i go 3-4 times a week, and have logged 13 miles so far walking, on the elliptical and cycle. yesterday, i was cycling away...feeling a sense of accomplishment, taking my chubbies for a ride, jiggling away, but knowing those chubs will be fading. then a skinny gal walked in. ARRGH the internal dialog that went on isn't worth repeating, but i know some of you could re-create my self-thrashing without a problem (though i don't recommend doing that!) i remembered reading an article, i think it was by dean anderson, about cycling in the gym and all the noise his flapping skin was making as he pedaled. that started a cascade of remembering stories of success, those who "muscled their way past the gag reflex" to accomplish amazing life-changing results. the skinny chick was still there, and my chubs were still jiggling, but i didn't feel like running away. i completed my cardio, then went on to some strength training. emoticon it was worth it, but i sure do need to keep a watch on my thoughts!!!!
in the afternoon, i went to an athletic shoe store, and the guy asked me, rather incredulously, are you looking for shoes for YOURSELF? we just moved to el paso...maybe women my age don't run here???? it bugged me the rest of the day. i try to be nice, but i wonder...should i have said something? after i left the store i thought about going back in and asking him if HE'D ever run a half-marathon? i don't know. i'm not a confrontational person generally, but it just irks me. emoticon
anyway...onward and upward. and hopefully downward as far as the pounds go.
have a great day!

Atta girl! It IS all a head game! And we can win it...just gotta watch our thoughts and keep turning them in the right direction. It is annoying when we don't get the respect we deserve in sporting goods stores...been there/eperienced that...and took my business elsewhere! Hang in there! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon emoticon
