Itís remarkable how thoroughly I can deceive myself.
Iíve been upping and downing with the same 4lbs since Christmas and I kept telling myself I had no idea why I couldnít seem to lose any more.

But then yesterday I was looking at my daily nutrition report and I realised I cannot remember when I last ran it. My food has been tracked faithfully down to the last gram whenever possible, but thatís all I did.
I havenít been checking my calories, I havenít tried to balance the macronutrients, I havenít even thought about the micronutrients Iím supposed to be tracking. I was just plugging in the numbers out of habit and making absolutely no use of them.

Looking at it now, itís no wonder I havenít lost anything. Iíve been under and over my calorie ranges, Iíve been too low on protein, Iíve been far too high on carbs (why must fruit taste so good??), and I canít even see the last time I met my calcium target.
What a mess!

I think itís about time to start some new streaks:
1. Keep entering all food every day.
2. Run the report every day and ACT ON IT!

Letís see if I can kick this 4lbs for good and get on with the other 13 I need to lose.

    Thanks for the reminder! I've been cycling too for a few months - have gotten complacent and need to get back to the frame of mind I had when I first joined Spark.

    LOVE IT!. Good on you for being able to call yourself out and to take the actions you need to. That's WAAAAY more than half the battle!

    Keeping track of protein and making sure I get at least 60-80 grams of it a day has been the best thing for me, as well as staying within my calorie range. Then again I am more into weight training and I am not a runner, so you will probably have to find out the ideal balance of carbs and protein that helps stave off hunger, fuel your runs, and give you the best weight loss results. Think how marvelous you will feel once you get it right and the weight comes off as you enjoy your summer!

    Gaining and losing 4lbs is often called maintenance! It may not be where you want, but it's still maintenance. emoticon
