Day One on SP!

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Just signed up for SparkPeople today, after struggling to find an online support system for maintenance. SP has an active maintenance group, so I'm excited to get plugged in and hang out with others who are like minded (maintaining or transitioning into maintenance).

Bit of background-

Sara-
34 yr old female, 5ft, 6 in
mom to three kiddos
starting weight-171lbs/size 14 jeans
current weight-124-126lbs/size 4 jeans, size 2 skirt/shorts

Hello!

After a diabetes scare last fall I started doing alternate day intermittent fasting (as laid out in Dr. James Johnson's book, The Alternate Day Diet). I lost 40ish pounds and started transitioning into maintenance in March. I also had new blood work done in April and my fasting glucose number is now 89, which is solidly in the normal range emoticon

Since March I've been tweaking how I want to do maintenance-experimenting with different forms of IF and trying different calorie numbers. I've lost an additional 5lbs, and my maintenance range is currently 124-126lbs.

Right now I'm trying 1,700-2,000 calories a day and doing 8/16 IF. For exercise I'm briskly walking 10 miles a week (15 minute miles) and also doing Mark Lauren's strength training program, from his book Body By You.

My goals:
-continue pushing myself with strength training and take my body to the next level of fitness
-stabilize my weight, to fit in my maintenance range
-relax with the scale-right now I weigh daily but I'd like to get to the point where I only weigh once or twice a week. Daily weighing is a hard habit to break though!

Welcome Sara! SP is a great place to meet encouraging and supportive people! Great job on your weight loss and glucose level. I like your goals and I do agree - not weighing everyday is a hard habit to break!
