Hike 2-mile 40 (goal update)

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Despite starting much earlier we just are not getting many hikes in. I think it has to do with my son's schedule, guests, and the weather. we did seize the opportunity today to get out into the woods. it rained early this morning and we are supposed to have possibly severe thunderstorms later today, but for the last hour or so it's been Ok. We only went a couple miles, but it was something! It's hot and muggy out. Yuck so it was slow going and felt harder than it should have!

So our walk/hike/jog total is now about 40 miles. This is way behind where I imagined we would be by this point but still moving forward. On our trip to Mordor we've reached about the evening of day two (ouch!) not quite up to the camping place at woody end. Whew! I can't believe we are not even half way to Tom Bombadil's house yet!

We have also had too much rain to do walking/hiking like normal. If it were just rain we would still go (we both have huge umbrellas and hats), but with lightening and thunder DH and I hunker down in the house with the cats. emoticon They have no problem with noise but seem to not like the feeling of electricity in the air.

I love the woods, but more to sit and observe in. I like to identify birds and wildflowers and look at interesting rocks. lol. But, I have to hike to get into the woods and hike back, so it's all good.
40 miles is nothing to sneeze at. Those Hobbits just had tough feet. lol.

It's great to see the sun coming out but YES, muggy it is!

    Kudos to getting out there!
