I am now officially 11 pounds and 8 oz away from my first goal of 175 pounds. I am happy I am getting close and also watching everything I eat more than ever to ensure I make it. I know I can do it, and so with that confidence my thoughts are turning to how I will maintain that weight. My plan is to practice maintenance for 3 months and then start weight loss again with my ultimate goal of 160. The thought of maintenance is more stressful than the dieting, as I am so worried I will put weight back on. I did some calculations using the Goal setter on Sparkpeople and have discovered I will probably have a caloric goal of 1680 to 2100 to maintain. Given my less than active lifestyle I probably will need to hover around the 1680 mark. The fact that this will be a permanent weight maintaining strategy is scary. but hopefully I'll get in the groove without any issues. I plan to continue to use Sparkepeople even after I reach all my goals so that I can keep up with my eating and know immediately if I am out of bounds. Phew, here's to the future!
