well, "picky" understatement...
i am as bad as a little kid.
it is okay when you are 5 years old, but 45??????
when i go out with friends, people HALF joke that that since i am with them, it limits their choices... A LOT. this isn't just "i don't like veggies", it is more like here, i can tell you the things i WILL eat, rather than what i won't. it gets so bad, i am ashamed of myself when i go over to someone's house, and they are serving dinner, i worry that i won't like anything that they are serving, making them think i am being rude.
and when i watch the biggest loser, the people talk how they are picky eaters, but later you see them eating some leafy green thing, smiling and saying, "MMMM! this is good!"
riiiiight, they are "picky" eaters!
my kids eat more different things than i do! and my son is considered a picky eater! i HATE fish (except TUNAfish, and yes, i know, "that isn't REAL fish!") and yes, i HAVE tried fish in MANY millions of different ways, it still is the same.... YUCK!
veggies? well, since CORN is a grain, guess that doesn't count. i will eat a stray bean or carrot, but that is a RARE instance. sometimes broccoli, but that is it! no salad for this girl, it is like eating crunchy air!
now, you would THINK, well, then why does she have a weight problem??? ummm, yeah right. fast food? LOVE it.
well, that has tomato sauce in it, that is a veggie, right? (and no, don't ruin a good pizza by putting olives, peppers, or any thing like that!) just straight up meat and cheese, baby! cakes, and other sweets? SURE! oh, and the only "healthy" foods i like??? FRUITS!
so, what do i do, to work on EATING healthy??? the only thing that is left... eat moderate, small portions... well that works if eating enough to feed a bird
will fill you up! wait, don't most birds eat more than their weight in a day? hmmmm, eating so little that the toddler plate holds more... yeah, that is about right!
any ideas or suggestions?
no, i am not complaining, but just thought if you were having a tough time with eating, maybe you will feel better, since most EVERY person i know likes a variety of food, and can "substitute" for something healthier! while i sit at the kids table, eating with the other picky eaters!
