A New Day

It is one in the morning my time. I tracked my food and exercise yesterday, and trying to track my water intake. Water is not my favorite drink, but I do like a glass of ice water. Once I get my new mini fridge and some ice I can enjoy water again.


Tonight I was sitting here thinking about Yoga and Belly Dancing, two activities that I have been wanting to do. Also, the idea of going to the beach in a bathing suit has kind of gave me motivation.


It is hard sometimes not to get discouraged when you look in the mirror. And just maybe it does not always have to be a bad thing. Perhaps it gives a whole new perspective about losing weight, and gives the nudge we need.

    Water, water, lots of water. Don't concentrate so much on what see, think about what you feel, how are your clothes fitting. emoticon emoticon

    The mirror can also be your friend. It raises our awareness. Now we just have to see it as a friend. It doesn't tell us anything we don't already know (not really), it doesn't pass judgement (we do that) however it helps us understand what we need on the to-do list! Put that healthy lifestyle plan into action and it will reflect that too! emoticon emoticon

    I didn't jump straight into drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I eased into it by making sure I had 2, then 3 and before I knew it I was at 8 glasses a day and not liking soda so much anymore. The key for me is that is has to be ice cold. So I keep a bottle in the mini-fridge in my office and one on my desk. When I empty one, I refill it and switch it out for the colder one.

Belly dancing sounds like fun, but I don't know how comfortable I'd be just yet. Not ruling it out, just not ready.

    I love my water never was a big fan of mirrors or having my picture taken even when I weighed 120. I hope you are getting your 8 hours of sleep that is number one important thing to help your weight loss .

    It took me carrying around a 64-oz water JUG to get into the habit of drinking water. I stuck a straw in it and just kept randomly sipping until it was all gone. As a matter of fact, while I laid in bed watching TV, I would stick that straw in my mouth and keep sipping until it was gone. It was absent-minded drinking, but it also kept me off the sodas and snacking. Then I became a water lover.

And I used to one of those people who refused to be in pictures, and refused to look into the mirror completely... at least at full-length. YUCK! Now I am seeing things change and become more toned. And I have to remember that I am a strong mass of muscles under these layers and layers of fat. So that keeps me motivated!

Keep going and I hope you learn to love water as well!

    I have a lot of new exercises I'd like to try as well. Belly dancing is high on the list.

Mirror: I think it can be good and bad. It is motivation, but sometimes I get really down when I've changed my cloths for the ump-teenth time because I just don't like the way the they look.

I exercise in the evening - mirror checks are morning. Maybe I should start doing a mirror check in the evening to make me put a little extra effort into my work out. emoticon

Water: I've been adding lemon slices.

    It took me a while to get used to water. Now that I'm used to it, anything else makes me feel bloated. I look at vending machines at the giant-sized drinks and start to feel bloated just looking at them.

I love yoga. I started going once a week a year and a half ago and I'm getting better all the time (at first it was pretty comical). I feel strong and amazing when I finish.

    I had to learn how to drink my water. I still will put lemon or some kind of flavoring in it most times. I know I need to take up some different kind of exercise - just haven't decided what.
