10k Training!

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

So, I may have lost my mind but I just signed up for a 10k- and I am 5 months postpartum (after a c-section). I have been slowly getting up to running again but I really have only been able to do about 4 miles, and that has lots of walking breaks in it! Yikes!

But I have until July 20th to whip myself into shape. I went on the first "training run" today! I ran 5.9 miles in 68 minutes. Longest run in a LONG time. But I absolutely walked the last mile, I am not gonna lie, and there was at least a minute of stretching on a bench at the halfway point. But it is a start!

Fancy new shoes with purple sparkle laces (got the laces for 67 cents!) Makes me feel like it is the 3rd grade come again!

She sleeps best when I am huffing and puffing.

Wide awake and ready to play after the run!

YOU are a freaking rockstar!! All I have to say is do it NOW while you gets so much harder when they are mobile.

I am having a C-section tomorrow and I will definitely be checking back in with you for inspiration on the running. I already have hopes of doing a 5k in October. Thanks for posting about this and great job!

You already completed 5.9 miles...what is 0.3 more?!? You'll do fine in the race and it doesn't matter if you walk, run, or crawl as long as you do it. Get out there and kick but emoticon

If you are at 5.9 miles, even with walks, you will be fine!

Congrats on your little one! She is such a cutie!

Good luck with your 10K training. I haven't made up my mind yet if I'm going to sign up for another run yet. I have a bad knee. Keep up the good work. emoticon
