Parody of "Ghostbusters" - "SparkPeople" (work in progress)

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

(Background Story: So I decided to get up off my heine and jump on my rebounder, playing the "rebounder" playlist on my SparkPeople iPod Shuffle (I won it a long time ago.). One of the songs that came up on rotation was the "Ghostbusters" theme written by Ray Parker, Jr. It occurred to me that the words could be tweaked into a nice parody, utilizing SparkPeople themes. It's in a rough state now, and of course, I don't have a musical track of it with the new words, to make sure it really "sounds right". So - I do have a link to a YouTube version with lyrics, but you're gonna have to sing louder in your mind to override the "ghostbuster" sung in the actual video track. )

Here's a link:

I'll wait while you open up another window and fire it up, for a sort of twisted sing-along with Mitch Miller, or um what's the new thing with the kids these days, karaoke?

Ready? Here goes:

If there's blubber and fat underneath yo' 'hood
Who ya gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
If it's somethin' weird an' it don't look good
Who ya gonna call? (SparkPeople!)

I ain't afraid of no fat! I ain't afraid of no fat!

If you're seein' things runnin' through your head
Who can you call? (SparkPeople!)
An overweight gal sleepin' in your bed *
Oh who ya gonna call? SparkPeople!)

I ain't afraid of no fat! I ain't afraid of no fat!

Who ya gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
If you're all alone, pick up the phone
And call SparkPeople!)

I ain't afraid oF no fat! I hear it likes the girls. I ain't afraid o' no fat!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
Mmm, if you've had a dose of too much fat baby
You better call (SparkPeople!)

Let me tell you somethin' bustin' makes me feel good! **

I ain't afraid of no fat! I ain't afraid of no fat!

Don't get caught alone, oh no (SparkPeople!)
When he jumps up on yo scales, Unless you just a want some more
I think you better call (SparkPeople!)

Oh, who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
Who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
Ah, think you better call (SparkPeople!)
Who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
I can't hear you!

Who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
Louder (SparkPeople!)

Who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)
Who can you call? (SparkPeople!)
Who you gonna call? (SparkPeople!)

** now here, "Bustin' makes me feel good" - seemed to me one could insert their favorite sport or exercise activity. Hoopin' or Runnin' or Walkin' or in my case, Jumpin' (since I was jumping on the rebounder.). You get the idea. Even household chores - Cleaning, Sweeping, Washing, whatever fits, whatever you need motivation to do, whatever fits in the timing of the song ....

I could sort of visualize the faintest possibility of filming myself (okay, so I'm a Luddite, videotaping would be somewhat more accurate, I guess, but even that's old tech, with the new digital cameras that have no "film".), in a SparkPeople shirt, jumping on the rebounder with this song as the soundtrack. Would be kinda shocking watching the Michelin Man's sister blubbering up and down on the rebounder, but oh well. I'm not as thrillingly glamorous as Shelli hooping it up!!
