1. listening-to my body. it's not as easy as it sounds. But i am doing it, and even though i am not losing weight (as far as i can tell), I do feel better about myself. It is a very freeing feeling to listen to my body, eat/drink what i want, and stop when i am satisfied.
2. sleep-when i need it. I know that many adults think naps are for kids, but I am here to say they are wrong. granted 3-4 hours is too much for an adult, but as my mom always said "if you're tired, sleep. you're body knows what it needs".
3. kindness-to myself and my body. I am not very kind most of the time, but I am getting better. in order for me to listen to my body and what it needs/wants, i need to be kind to myself. i beat myself up for being 40lbs overweight. however, I am doing things to be healthy and live healthy. I need to understand that healthy is not only the # on the scale, but energy to do things, not being in pain, happy to be active and moving, and enjoying what i like to eat and drink without guilt.
