Today's Challenge ...

The challenge for today ... think of all the things I can do now that I couldn't do (as easily or at all) before. I still do everything I did before I joined SP, but I know that everything IS easier and more fun! Besides my fingernails getting healthy (that was a really BIG thing for me, too), and besides my "spare tire" diminishing (I'm back to what I used to be before gravity took effect:) and besides my ability to lift things that I had a tough time with before ... GOOD GRIEF!!!! I can think of LOTS of things! And THAT makes me REALLY happy!!!

Last September:
*Following my annual check up I tried to start a walking program with my 83 year old neighbor. She usually does 2 or 3 miles every morning. This will be a snap . . . or so I thought. I couldn't even make it to the corner . . . everything locked up, starting with my hip, up my back, into my shoulder, down my leg . . . . I felt absolutely miserable and defeated.

*Dr suggested I start with 5 minutes on the elliptical, and increase it by 1 minute each week. Best I could do was 2 minutes.

*Physical therapist told me I was NOT to lift a brick or a rock (we were rebuilding the waterfall on the pond). He didn't have to tell me cos I already knew couldn't.

Today: I have been moving wheelbarrows full of firewood every day!
I have shoveled out 3 feet of dirt (so far) and moved huge
rocks to build a new pond!
I rode my motorcycle for 6.5 hours last weekend!
I repainted 3 rooms in our home!
I can do 20+ minutes on the elliptical!!!!!
and the list continues to grow.

Oh, and I dropped 18 pounds and have kept it off for 5 months!!!!

And I have met some of the most awesome people!!!

    My big measure was climbing stairs without feeling like it was a big effort. I just go up and down now without thinking about it. Getting stronger from consistent exercise.
