I enjoyed my little Memorial Day vacation. We went to our friend's ranch in Mendocino and spent the days hiking, grilling, hot tubbing and partying with friends. The weekend was not disastrous in terms of health but I definitely could have done better. Here's the good, the bad and the ugly!
I did not need to eat so many banana muffins!
I did not need seconds on the grilled meats, though they were delicious!
I did not need to eat quite so much cranberry walnut bread (YUM!)
But, I'm glad I:
Got 8+ glasses of water and tracked all my food!
Went on that super steep five mile hike and worked up a sweat!
Managed to stick with having four or five ciders a day and didn't drink much else!
I don't plan on having a big weekend like this again until August so I definitely went a little crazy. But I'm home and I'm working my way back to good habits. I'm worried I'll have sugar cravings this week brought on by all the sweets but I'm prepared to meet them head on. TOM is forthcoming this week; I'll be ready.
One thing learned this week, incidentally: I need to listen to the foods my body wants to eat. I try to honor my cravings where possible but, of course, I can't just eat a sweet treat whenever I want to. Still, I wanted a chocolate chip cookie on Friday and I didn't get it, and I felt like that was partially responsible for my banana muffin binge. Of course, you can't fill a chocolate chip cookie void with banana muffins, so one wasn't enough, neither was two. Shoulda just had the damn cookie. You live you learn!
