Back again!

So here I am again....we didn't have internet for a month, and were gone for almost three weeks of that month...then once we got the internet back I was sick blah blah blah....

Thought I'd introduce you to The Chicken. This is my spotted turtle dove that I "rescued" back in early September. I worked last year with WIRES, an Australian native animal rescue/rehab group. Spotted turtle doves are not native to Australia, and theoretically I was supposed to take Chicken to the vet and have him euthenised - but really, when I opened the box the next morning and he looked up at me and cheeped, did you think I could do that? No way. He's been my pal since that first day. I've been pooped on more times than you can count. He sits on my head, he sits on my shoulder, he sits on my knee. He serenades me with an elaborate series of bows and coos.

I have another spotted dove a few months younger than Chicken. His name is Snarky because he's never warmed up to contact with us. In fact, only two days ago he finally flew in and perched on my head. Chicken is terribly jealous of Snarky. I think he beats him up when I'm not looking. I feel sorry for Snarky because when he was much younger, he wanted Chicken to be his surrogate parent and Chicken wanted nothing to do with him.

Anyway....here's the Chicken! In other news, I was in the States for almost three weeks eating outside my comfort zone - and did not gain any weight. So happy about that! I'm back on Weight Watchers as of yesterday.

What a lovely Chicken! I'm a big envious of his spots, as our dovies have a gray band about their necks instead, and they're not nearly as friendly as your Chicken.

Hope you enjoyed the visit stateside - and congrats on not taking any excess lbs back with you!

Oh, Wow...look at that! Who says you can't tame wild birds! Not you! Pretty Chicken! Funny names for both birds! Doesn't OZ want them to roam free-since they aren't native? good luck with them.
Glad you didn't gain weight while vacationing! Must have been active or at least not eating more than your maintenance calories. Dr. Oz says the easy way to get that amount is you take 12 x your weight once you get to your goal or what you weigh now if you want to eat more for whatever reason-like splurge on vacation, etc.
Welcome back. Keep sparking!
