A day at the Minneapolis Institue of Art

Sunday, May 26, 2013

Since it is a cold weekend, we decided to find another activity indoors for this weekend. We decided on a trip to the MIA. Here are a few pictures of my favorite paintings and sculptures. We are very lucky to have such wonderful artwork displayed here in Minnesota.

The skyline of Minneapolis is in the background.

some examples of interesting artwork!

one of my favorites!

El Greco

This is just a small sampling of all the beauty contained within the walls of a great building and best of all, it is free to all that want to go and see such magnificence!
It is amazing to think how old some of the things are and how well they have been preserved.
Have a great weekend and Happy Memorial Day to all.

I love the MInneapolis Institute of Art although I've only been there one time. Who created the marble statue with the angel? Thanks for sharing with us!

Beautiful! I loved that you shared your favorite pieces of art with us! And it is great to read that it is free to visit. Museums aren't free in France, and I think that's a shame (but at least we don't need to pay to visit churches, when it is the case in England!).

emoticon You have been a busy blogger! Love it! Trying to catch up with everyone, now that my arm is better to type with it. We need to go to Art museums more. We have lots of cool things to see down in Tampa, including a big Aquarium! Plus, the huge cruise lines come in and dock and pick up passengers. Funny how we never go to see the things close to home sometimes! Good for you going out and exploring! emoticon

Thank you so much for sharing these pix. They are beautiful. We have a very nice art museum here in Milwaukee, right on the lake front. Although we have to pay (most of the time) to go through it. They always have new items and I love going there. When my son was in town we made a point of going there at least once a month.
I was able to get some gardening in so far this weekend, but tomorrow it will be cool and rainy so it will be indoor activities for us too. Have a great Memorial Day.....
    Hugs! Barb

I loved these pictures too Holly. My hubby would love to see this. I really loved those two pictures of the ladies in the gardens, the one with the umbrella, and the other looks like a lavender field.
Bet it was a relaxing, peaceful day. Thank you for sharing these. emoticon emoticon
