Hiking the PCT from Mt. Islip to Mt. Baden-Powell

Sunday, May 26, 2013

Whew, I've been so busy lately and just noticed that I haven't posted in a while.

Yesterday we hiked a section of the PCT; just a 14.5 mile stretch - perfect for a day hike. We bagged a total of 5 peaks, so this was a roller coaster hike rather than the usual 'first up than down' hike. The weather was gorgeous.

Starting out this hike has an 'alpine' feeling to it.

Further up, towards the second peak the trail leads through a burn area, literally a tree grave yard. Sad, though spectacular.

We found these little flowers, which just seemed to have popped out of the ground at random.

Wonderful views all around. It was a perfect day.

OMG! I'm so envious that you were hiking the PCT. I've read so many books by through hikers that I'm really in awe of anyone who is out there doing those long hikes. Good for you...the pictures are wonderful in capturing that beautiful scenery.

Thank you for the pictures of your hike - very nice.

Sad about the burn trees but to see the flower - gave life to the area.
