WE NEED REFRESHMENT

When we are thirsty or hungry, it is harder to focus. When we lack sleep, our day is long. When we don’t exercise, we get tired quicker. However, when we take time to refresh our bodies with food, rest and activity, we are able to keep going longer when we need to. Our minds need refreshment as well. When we refresh with God on His day, all day, our week is better. When we refresh with Him daily, our days go smoother. Without God’s refreshment, our minds can grow weary. When our minds become weary, we can make bad choices. We could begin to lean on the things of the world to get by rather than leaning on God to live.

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we want to hear You every day. We want to be refreshed every day in our minds, bodies and souls. Our refreshment can be found in You. You are the true refreshment who will give us life and strength to do what we don’t even know we are capable of doing. Help us today to know Your day is for rest and renewal. Help us today to know that our mornings are to be refreshed by You. Show us Your plan so we can put aside the things of the world and come to You for refreshment. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God can and wants to give us rest so that we can be renewed and continue on the path He has set for us.

Matthew 11:28 “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.’” (NLT)

When our minds become weary, we make bad decisions.

When we are refreshed, we are able to do more, be more and live more for God.

Refreshment is good for the mind body and soul.

Isaiah 50:4 “The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.” (NLT)
