Judges 13. God, in the flesh.

Sunday, May 26, 2013

Read Judges 13.

The beginning of this chapter identifies the largest problem people all over the world have had throughout history. They did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and they were given over to their enemies. A cycle that has been repeated so many times. An angel of the Lord comes to speak with Manoah and his wife. There are various instances of visitors through the old testament, fewer in the new. In all cases where it is a messenger of God they are careful not to accept worship. In this case when asked his name the angel replies Wonderful, one of the names attributed to Jesus by the prophet Isaiah, he shall be called wonderful, councilor, mighty God... And when the offering is given this angel receives the offering and departs in the flames. So I believe we have a preincarnate appearance of Christ. I think this shows us that although God created this world and gave it to humanity to do as we please, (free choice and will), there are times where He comes in the flesh to move us back in the right direction.
