As I've been walking up the stairs I'm using for my Mt. Everest Challenge, I've been pondering how accurate my Striiv is in the counting. I know it occasionally misses stairs, but really, how many?

So this morning I counted out 100 pennies from my sister's penny jar and took them with me to "my" stairs in a cup.

Every time I climbed the flight (18 stairs) I put a penny in the cup at the top.

Gradually, the jingle in my pocket got quieter and quieter. When I reached the top of the Eiffel Tower (1665 stairs), I had just 3 pennies left. That tells me that I actually climbed 1746 stairs, so I climbed an extra 81 stairs. That's an error margin I can live with.

Of course, having climbed 3000 stairs yesterday, I just had to see if I could climb 200 flights today. So, back in my pocket went the pennies and back to the stairs I went.

I did it! I actually climbed 204 flights because I had a challenge against Walkatron going on my Striiv and I couldn't just stop. LOL.

Total stairs for my two hour stair climb (yep, that's how long it took) - 3,581 stairs.

My sister is really taking on this stair challenge, too. Yesterday she did 1,936 stairs at work. She joined me for the first hour today and climbed 2,205 stairs. It was nice to have her company, though near the end it slowed me down just a bit.

After my workout I ran some errands, so now, at about 5pm, I have 16,671 steps, of which 3,648 are stairs, 7.6 miles and my Striiv says I've burned 2,533 calories.

Oh, and I lost 2 pounds this week. emoticon

    That's a lot of stairs! It can be more tiring to have to slow down with a partner (I found this out this week when we took a really slow walk in the park). Woo Hoo on the 2 pounds!
