As of this week, I have been on SparkPeople for one year! In that time I have...
-Lost about 45 pounds. My weight goes up and down. So many life changes have contributed to it not being more, but I also am not always persistant about eating my healthiest. Personally, slow but steady is fine with me. I am learning how to maintain as I go along, which is the most important skill. Since I've always wondered what other's weight graphs look like here is mine:
-Been encouraged by others on SparkPeople, and hopefully inspired others as well.
-Ran a half marathon. A year ago, I struggled to run 1/4 mile.
-Realized how much excercise and strength training help. I started on SparkPeople focusing on nutrition because I knew that needed serious changes, but when I started excercising, especially when I started strength training some, I found that really helped my metabolism.
-Graduated from college! I completed my student teaching, went back to finish classes, graduated, and now am home for the summer, preparing to move to Venezuela in July.
-Practiced nutrition when I lived by myself, at college (where I had to eat in the dining commons once a day), and at home. Home is honestly the hardest, and that is where I am now. Many of my bad habits come from how I was raised at home. My dad and I sometimes fight over food. He really struggles with self-control, and I struggle with wanting to control all of the treats. Also, being home is hard because my parents use me as an excuse to have lots of unhealthy food in the house. For example, after going shopping yesterday and this morning, we now have supplies for smores, two bags of chocolate chips, extra marshmellows, icecream, two bags of chips, pancake mix, chocolate chip muffins, and more. I really need to practice self-control and be willing for my parents to eat it instead.
Well, I need to go get started for the day. I already slept in extra long, and I still need to run and mow the lawn again. Have a great Saturday!
