I guess I left off on Thursday morning. Fit Husband and I went for a run as soon as he came home. It was hot again. The temperature was 93 when we went for our run. Fit Husband said I was a rock star. I had a run interval on a hill, and I did great! We went farther than we had on Monday, so that was a win for sure. Yet again, on that stupid straightaway in front of the high school near our apartment complex, the sun was beating down, there was zero breeze, and I was convinced that I was going to not be able to finish. I'm starting to ignore this thought process though. I think it's just a 2nd to last run interval thing. When I'm on my last run interval, I always feel horrible. I'm hot, dripping with sweat, my whole body hurts, breathing hurts, but I push through without too much of a thought. I know that it's almost over and that I've done well. The 2nd to last interval is awful though because I know that I have to get through that one AND my last interval. I just need to get over it. LOL. It's a mental thing. I'll learn.
I took my time after my run on Thursday before I got a shower. Fit Husband stretched me out (he's in PTA training, so he knows how to do that well, and it was super helpful!), talked to my other best friend, The Vet (veterinarian, not veteran) on the phone for a bit, and THEN I took my shower. This was a MUCH better idea. I let my body cool down on its own instead of forcing it. This was a GOOD plan.
Last night, Fit Husband and I went to the San Antonio Missions minor league baseball game. SO much fun!!!!!! I used to play softball every summer from the time I was 7 until I was probably 14... I think after that marching band consumed my life in the summertime. Fit Husband never played baseball. He played soccer, so he doesn't get some of the rules, but we had an awesome time last night. I think he got into the game for the very first time. We got pictures with the mascot, Ballapeno, (giant jalapeno in a baseball uniform with mad dance skills. LOL) and generally just had a lovely time.
It also started to rain last night. For those of you who are familiar with south Texas, you know that this is a blessing. We were a foot away from going into Stage 3 water restrictions for the first time in history, and the drought here has been going on for 3 years now. It's been hard on people here, especially farmers. Yesterday morning, the rain started off and on, which was great! It held off enough for the game, which was really nice for me because I got to go to the game that I had really been eagerly anticipating attending. Then in the wee hours of the morning, probably around 2 or so when I woke up, we got a deluge. I don't think it's stopped since it started in the middle of the night. We've gotten over 7 1/2" of rain, and there are flood warnings all over the news. I don't think anyone's upset about it at all, really. The rain is much-needed. I'm a little disappointed that I won't be able to run this morning like I had wanted, but it's ok. Hopefully we'll get a break in the weather this afternoon or Sunday sometime, and we can go then. Until then, I'm going to stay inside where it's dry and be thankful that I don't live on the bottom floor of our apartment building. LOL
