Was I really eating POISON??

I recently came upon an article by CSPI, (Center for Science in the Public Interest,) on ten foods to avoid:

And they were all foods I used to enjoy all the time when I was big. At the top of the list was something that floored me. It was my favorite!

Yep, Stouffer's chicken pot pie, or its counterpart, Marie Callender's:

I almost fainted when I saw what was in it:

And that was only for HALF THE PIE!!!

You mean all those years I was eating POISON?

I'm never going back there again!

It's just not worth it.

I love where I'm at now, and it's great!

And I'm here.

and I'm a happy camper!

    Love this blog! I clicked the link and found I love all those foods on the BEST list...and eating them certainly doesn't make me feel deprived. Giving up all that junk on the other list is no problem once you realize what it really is. I can't grocery shop now without my reading glasses so I can read the fine print on the labels. Reading labels is life changing. Thanks so much for sharing this.

    Great Blog Robin, what a eye opener. My friend always told me. Never eat anything that is package in a box and as of right now I can't agree with her anymore. I'm so glad my mom stop buying my father those package meals. She's cooking healthier meals for her and my father. I told my parents if it has more than 50 ingredients in it's not good for you. I'm glad you saw the report. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Most people don't check the serving size - 2 servings of potpie per box, 4 servings of ice cream per pint ...

    Ohhhhh don't get me started on what the food industry is feeding us, besides bull of course. Low fat, non fat, where's the fat. What no fat? Sugar free. All of it crap.

Label reading is the go to today. If you don't read your labels, oh well, pull up a plot and join everyone that still eats the junk. I was so excited that they only had two ingredients in Shredded wheat, the wheat of course (99% frankenfood) and BHT preservative they also use to make Jet Fuel, arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhh.>
And sugar free? Aspartine one of the worse things a human can put in their body. And Fat Free means sugar, plain and simple. And sodium, oh boy I don't even want to start. You know how many names that MSG is under? Look it up, if you haven't. Another wake up call.

Yes, we are being poisoned.

Processed and refined food needs to change. Most of the population doesn't have the time to cook, so somebody needs to come up with healthy versions, that don't have the process's these items do. I was surprised to see they still showed trans fat in one of the pies. I guess they don'f feel it's so bad, if only .5 grams. The sodium amount is 4 digits, and that is for only half a pie? Good grief.

    Soooo cute and Sooooo True. I gave up everything in a box months aga and I'll never go back either! It feels better to eat whole foods only.     Hard to believe we ever ate that stuff! Serving sizes are ridiculous! Real food has so much more filling volume, not to mention nutrition to it. Never going back! Continue to enjoy your journey!

    My mom eats those and she is tiny. SMH She's probably not very healthy though. I can't believe the nutrional stats are that bad!! That food shouldn't be on the shelves!

    Beyond the calories, those dinners have so much sugar and sodium in them. Nothing good comes from those. So glad we've all learned that lesson.

    I admit it, I still eat Haagen Dazs ice cream. It's the ONLY brand of ice cream I eat and I enjoy it one serving at a time.

    It is scary to find out what is in processed "food".
Cooking from scratch with one ingredient foods is the way to go - organic or at least non-GMO veggies, meat and fruit. It's a little more work but cheaper in the end and it tastes soo much better!
