Day 1 - stopping smoking

Friday, May 24, 2013

Well I didn't make it completely today smokefree but had 3. I am very happy with today's result. I cannot get all bent out of shape as I have a long way to go and this is day 1. I cut my intake by 94% and that is just great. I will see the positive things I am doing every day to beat this. I did remember to get out my gum and chew it when I was thinking of smoking most times. SMoking is a disease. I am an addict and a tiger can't change his stripes without a lot of work at least. I will keep going and will have a positive tomorrow.

GOOD FOR YOU! Keep it up - the first days are the toughest. I found out that brushing my teeth when I had an urge really helped. Also, taking a short walk. Are you using any help besides the gum? The lozenges worked well with me too.

Great News Gini!! I'm rooting you on as Day One was a big success. Maybe you'd do well for the long haul using the nicotine patches or gum. . .Good for you. Hang in there dear friend as it could take you some time to be nicotine free. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

A couple things i did was to blow bubbles when I wanted to smoke and I paid myself (the cost of every pack I didn't smoke) as a reward... it adds up fast!!!!!

you are right it is an addiction....and also a habit, so find ways to break that chain of habits...just like food....alter your habits, find new things to do....

a friend of mine took a straw, a fat straw and cut it to the same length of her cigarette and she puffed and chewed on that when she had the urge to smoke, she said she even put a cotton ball on one end to make it seem like a filter...this worked for her and she has not smoked for many many years....every once in a while she would pull that old straw out when she got frustrated or stressed...

Have a healthy week end Gini...I am rooting for you...

Great job....Have you tried the nicotine worked for both my husband and I when we did it 10 years ago.....hell my Mom used it 15 years ago after smoking for 45 years and it worked..

As long as you continue to give it your best, it will happen

Congrats for the great first day!
