Friday - home from surgery

Friday, May 24, 2013

Well the 2nd hip is finally done - now comes the healing part. Overall the surgery went very well. Somethings did change from the preivous time - specifically the nausea. As I don't take much medication at all - when I do take it - it affects me. Trying to work through the nausea. The doctors did get me some medication to help with - but not sure if its working.

Appetite - basically gone. Been barely eating since Monday. Lucky if I ate even 500 calories any given day and that was to force myself to eat something. Experience from last time is this will go on for another week.

Arrived home today and DH setup a twin bed downstairs for me. Crawled into it and promptly fell asleep for 3 hours.

Now like giving birth you have to make it through this stage before you start seeing the rewards. In my case - if I recall it took 3-6 months before I was not consciously favoring the healing leg.

Getting PT and homecare for the next month.

Slowly taking one step at a time. I am so glad to be home.

Does PT count as exercise? It will be quite some time before I'm back to exercising normally.

Glad to hear you are home; hope the tummy calms down soon. Perhaps some dry crackers and flat ginger ale would help.
Prayers for a speedy recovery!

Glad the surgery went well and that you are home recuperating. Take care of yourself.

PT will count as exercise. I went for PT for my back and all the exercises they were showing me were ones that I was already doing because of Spark.

Stay strong!!!

Take care of yourself Ginny and yes PT is exercise. Glad things went well and hope the nausea goes away soon. I don't get nausea, just most meds knock me out. ((HUGS))
