I made it though the dreaded knee surgery!

Friday, May 24, 2013

Well, I made it though the dreaded knee replacement surgery and now I'm in recovery mode. It's weird to have to relearn how to do simple things like raise your leg, but it's a good test of patience and perseverance. I'm working super hard on my physio, with the help and support of my wonderful and amazing husband who pushes me for my own good. I'm just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and instead of focusing on the the discomfort, I'm looking forward to the many activities I'll be able to do in the future, that I've missed out on in the past.

Awesome, I saw in your intro that you were going to have knee replacement surg. I am supposed to have it late this summer early fall. It was a year and half wait list and time is june but called and she said not then be later. So fine. right now as long as I use my brace and take care not too bad.....
Terrified is my word, I am petrified of needles so not looking forward to this. Hvave a good mind set, but do have to say there hasn't been a surgery yet that I have healed without complications usually in the sutures... eeeek.
Oh well have to get this wt. off I wold love to see 40 lbs gone but will settle for working hard at losing and get what I can off.

Yay -- glad to hear it!!! So glad you are doing well and that your dh is so supportive! I called mine 'nurse nancy' for those first few weeks!! :)) Yeah the PT can be killer at times (the 1st time around I don't think there was a time I went in that I didn't end up crying but it gets better for sure!) And YES focus on the things that you will be able to do!! Great job!!

A good attitude is more than half the battle! Joint replacement surgery is so amazing.. my painful hip and pushing a walker around stores is now a very distant memory!

I sure look forward to following your recovery.
