My experiment - counting down my calories from 1500 to 0 rather than counting up to 1500 appears to be working quite well. I have been doing this for 1 week and have lost 1.5 lbs. already!
In addition to counting down the calories, I have also gone back to weighing myself after I get home from work on Thursday's (my weigh-in day). I find that if I weigh myself in the morning, I treat the whole day Thursday as a "free" day and just keep on eating all day long. By weighing myself after work, I watch every single calorie as I normally do during the day Thursday.
