Tukwila/Fort Dent-Blogging the Centurion Achievement Challenge in 2013 #32

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Another drizzly day in the Northwest. Walks must be done rain or shine; I decided to head back to Tukwila to do the Fort Dent 5k I had intended to do on May 14.
Y1293 Begins at a rather busy intersection, so the first part of the walk is URBAN.

But soon you branch off onto a trail that sets an enjoyable tone for the rest of the walk.

The route enters and loops around Fort Dent Park. The park was the site of a blockhouse built in approximately 1860 named for Frederick Dent, the brother-in-law of Ulysses S. Grant. It was located near the confluence of the Black and Green Rivers, which join to form the Duwamish River.

Previously the land had been occupied by the Duwamish tribe.

The park has numerous sports fields and play areas as well as trails along the river and around the lake.

Thank you Daffodil Valley Volkssport Assn.
