Put the FORK down..

One thing I am working on is being Mindful and being Present while I eat. I have for years never really tasted my food.I have chewed once or twice if lucky and quickly gulped it down.I am / make that was always the first one done. I can really suck it down.



My Past eating experiences.. I had too many of these to count.

So as I am working on this Mindful and Present eating .. I have gone a quest of sort to learn to enjoy the taste of my food again.. so what would that entail..





Cooking meals loaded with Color and Flavor.

This is a place loaded with fresh , color, flavor.. find a local Farmers Market.. support local whenever I can . .so much fresher and healthy

I need to change how I eat..



I need to be sitting at the table .. without the distraction of the T.V. or the computer.It is so easy to gulp my food down at these places without even thinking about one single bite.. ON auto pilot totally disengaged from the food experience and yet I claim to love food. I don't treat it very well.



Now while I am at the table.. How about putting that fork down. Chewing my food.. I have no idea what chewing is.. I should just suck it down a straw for all the chewing I do.

So I am trying to be Mindful and Present while Eating .. To enjoy food.. I always said I did , but I didn't really give it my best effort.


I want to eat to live not live to eat .. I have to become more Mindful to do that.

    Great blog!!! We have all been there! Mindlessly eating with no regard for flavor or texture. Not for health, or even for pleasure. Just to be doing it. My husband recently took me to Red lobster for a celebration. I made a point (for the first time ever probably) to slooooow way down and take the time to savor each bite. I tried to concentrate on the experience and the flavor of the food. It was so good, that I barely ate 3 bites of the entrée lol.

    This is a great step! It is so easy to eat way more than you planned to when you are not paying attention! But I will say that every now and again it feels nice to do a little mindless eating in front of the tv, and that is what air popped popcorn is for :D

    Yes - I also agree. Food needs to be enjoyed - and thought out - and noticed. If you don't see how far astray we have come - just drive down the road at lunch time or in the morning and see how many people you find eating while driving. We no longer relax and enjoy the food - it is just gobbled up before we even get a chance to taste it!

    Having kids helps for me - as does working from home. But I often found myself at the computer - doing school - reading - while eating. Now, since I am focused on being a family - a healthier family - I am trying to stop that. Everyone has to sit at the same table - everyone has to put ANY distractions away. It is not always easy - in a busy world - but we MUST do it!

    So glad you are finding more tricks up your sleeves - on the road to a healthier you!

    great reminders - love the pictures. I am guilty too - often gulp down something while I'm cooking somebody else's meal. Being mindful in many things would be a very good idea for me. Thanks for sharing!
