My bestie went to the grocery store, and was looking long and hard at the celery, it seems that celery wasn't the bumper crop this year. We didn't even have it in the vegetable aisle for a week or so.
Anyway, she went through, all finding limp undernourished very sad looking celery. So she finally found one that was decent and purchased it.
Well she went to prep it and clean it thoroughly Celery is in one of the top catagorys of major pesticides used.
As she was cutting into and pulling the stocks apart SHE FOUND A FROG!!!
What is ironic is that she collects frogs, and her Hubby calls her "Frog"
She just missed cutting into the frog. Alas the little guy was no longer with us. Obviously the pesticides did him in.
But can you imagine. Changes my thinking about purchasing celery. I might have to go up in price and get the single stocks. Which is good, because I am not that big on celery anyway, so if needed a couple of stocks wouldn't be bad, and you can check for frogs too.
Has anything like this, happened to any of you? Not me. I worry about bugs only, not so much thinking there may be other critters.
