Embroidery musing

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

I have not taken the time to work on my embroidery stitches in a couple of weeks. I have been working on other projects.

However, I am pleased with the progress so far. Practice is on the plate for the next several weeks, so that I can be more successful in the actual planned projects.

I am one of those people that likes to jump in, figure it out, and charge ahead (in needlework projects and cooking).

This time, I am taking my time and enjoying the experience. I rather like that. THe finished projects will be, I think, more satisfying. More artistic, and maybe a bit better than in the past.

Are you doing hand embroidery or machine embroidery. I like both for different things. I got an embroidery machine as my graduation present when I finished graduate school, but despite my advanced education and clear instructions, I was terrified of the machine... afraid I would somehow break it. I finally watched about 20 youtube videos of folks using their machines and mustered up the courage to give it a go. Now I love it... but it is very different than doing hand embroidered items.

It's great when you can enjoy the whole process, not just rush to finish. Your practice now will give good results. I hope you post a photo when you finish!
