It's been a pretty difficult month for me in that I've been REALLY stressed out. It impacts me in a lot of ways from physical pain to sleepiness to just-not-wanting-to-do-anythin
g-itis. BUT, ironically, it also tends to make me want to do MORE. I've been slacking. I have been doing a bare minimum of exercise the past couple of weeks.
Now, I do have a legit REASON for doing less recently--I've been going to bed at a reasonable time instead of staying up late doing work AND I've had a TON of work because it's the end of the school year. I don't think that's an EXCUSE because it's actually a really good habit to get into.
I've been getting into bed by like 11pm each night. Sure, I'm laying in bed reading until like 2am, but that's WAY better than getting in bed at 4:30am each night. I'm working on making sleep time earlier, but it's a big habit to break.
Last week, I started getting serious about some aspects of my prerequisites for going back to school to get a teaching degree. One of the requirements is the GRE and I've been dragging my feet over it. I've already taken the GRE once. I did quite well (Math is always strong for me... Verbal not so much--I don't need big words to communicate darnit!). But, GRE scores are only valid for 5 years and I'm about 6 months too late to use them. So I have to learn big words again! I have an app on my phone that I'm in love with to learn the 4000 words that they recommend for the GRE. Did you know "abnegation" means self-sacrifice? I DO NOW! But I'm still on the a's, so I'm not making as much progress as I should be. SO. Time for some change!
Here are my obsessive tiny goals for the next week & a half (will revisit at the start of the month!):
--Wake up on time! Snooze button is off limits!
--Eat breakfast each day. Doesn't have to be much, but skipping's not allowed. It's a bad habit.
--While I'm eating breakfast & getting awake, I'm allowed to putz for 1 hour. No more.
--Directly to work, get my to-do list for the day done. No procrastinating.
--After work, can 'relax' for 1 hour. During this time, must drink at least 3 glasses of water. (one 24oz bottle)
--To the gym. Short days on Tues/Thurs, longer distances/times on M/W/F. Weekends are up for grabs, will probably be spent cleaning.
--After that's done, I can do whatever I want as long as it includes a healthy, non-eating-out meal. Allowed ONE night of eating out per week.
--Fill water bottles before bed.
That all seems totally reasonable, but I'm having trouble with all of them for now, so now... they're written down! Done babbling now, time to get to the gym part of things :P
