Frustration

You know, sometimes I get so frustrated with the whole weight loss thing. It seems that for every step forward, I end up taking two steps back (as the saying goes). Every time I get within ounces of that ten pound mark, I goes back up two or three pounds. I do everything I am supposed to. I eat right and exercise every day. I try to keep a positive attitude and encourage others. I change up the routine and still nothing works. I want to say the heck with it and just stop trying, but I don't. I will just keep plodding along in the hopes that eventually something will click.

    I hear you, Tee! But we have to keep trying! With every step and every change we are moving toward a healthier lifestyle; hopefully weight loss will be a side effect of that process. ::fingers crossed::

    Good health is much more that weight. How do you feel? How do your clothes fit on you? These are the non-scale victories (NSV) that should be celebrated. Finally, the best way to get healthy is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. That being the case there is no trying just doing. Develop good healthy habits, repeat often until they become part of your everyday life. In my opinion, that is the key to success.

    If you are working out, then you are building muscles and it is really true that muscle weighs more than fat.

My story, about 30 years ago, I was taking exercise classes, walking daily and swimming and even the instructor complimented me on how good I was looking. Yes, I went down 3 sizes, but my weight only reduced by 2 or 3 lbs. Also, a medical issue I had at the time, caused me to slack off and stop exercising, I didn't gain any weight, but lost the muscle and never again got into that pair of jeans I had shrunk down too.

    I can't suggest taking measurements enough. Body composition is so much more about health -- the point is health, right?
