Ingredient List

Water, Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Less than Two Percent of Sodium Caseinate (from Milk), Natural and Artificial Flavor, Modified Food Starch, Xanthan and Guar Gums, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Monostearate, Sodium Polyphosphates, Beta Carotene (Color).

I stopped eating this long ago, when I found that one of the ingredients listed was the "H" word
Hydrogenated. Kept telling my friends how bad this stuff was, when at the time I was still stuffing my own face with sugar products.

But several years ago, Dr. Andrew Weil said to never, ever buy any product with the word hydrogenated in it. Almost every thing I had, had the word in it. But that's before they got savvy to trans fat. Now most companys have replaced it or taken it out. (funny, I think all the flavor went with it.) So now I know what the flavor was.

Anyway Cool whip (lite) has not changed it's ingredients. And after the water, the first 3 ingredients are like poison to a human. It's just better to have "Real" whipped cream.

And to add, just remember natural and artificial and added color can be anywhere from duck feathers to bugs. emoticon

It just makes me mad that all they want to do is poison people and have the pay for it. Basically we are paying to kill ourselves. I know in 2007 I had read about the Hydrogenated oils and what it did that is when I started going whole foods and organic if I could. My husband dropped 20lbs and me 10lbs in a month just by changing that. It was hard there are lots and lots of food you can't eat anymore. My current hubby isn't getting it so I just have to do my best to not get that stuff. I will keep my eye out of anymore of your good posts. I am always looking for great info on food items that they are trying to kill us with.

    Cool Whip = Cool Profit

Invented by a food chemist, William Mitchell. Within two years of introduction, it became the largest and most profitable product in the Birds Eye line of products.

According to a Wired Magazine article, consumers are paying 41 cents per ounce for mostly water and air: twice the cost of homemade whipped cream

Wow, thanks again for a timely post; tonight I was cleaning out all cabinets of anything with HFCS, hydrogenated oils, and artificial sweeteners. I only had a few items (some sugar-free hot chocolate and apple cider, plus a can of soup that had 35% RDA sodium), and I decided to check my other, "safe" foods. OMG pork rinds have hydrogenated oils! I never would have checked, and so now my go-to snack for low-carb is going to have to be something else, because those are OUTTA HERE.

Edit: AND check your medicine chest. My cough drops had some hydrogenated stuff in them, of all things!

    sounds like a science project.

I'm trying to eat less and less dairy but I would rather eat ice cream than cool whip.

UGH! Never liked ool Whip . . . definitely if I'm going to have a whipped topping, it's a small amt. of the real thing . . . whipped cream. And who needs the spray stuff when you can just beat your own heavy cream and add a little vanilla if your choose to! Taes all of 2 minutes.

HUGS and thanks for the information.

I don't use any dairy products, so it wouldn't matter to me. Any dairy is pretty much mangled by the time it reaches the public anyway.

I've been hip to that stuff from the off. It leaves a filmy taste on the roof of your mouth, which is a dead give away.
Real cream is by far the better choice (make sure you check the ingredients on that too. There is cream, and there is cream.)

And those "natural flavors" can be lab-made chemicals. No thanks! Cool Whip has always made me gak. :)

Did you see that the food industry is trying to get the ingredient "corn syrup" changed to "corn sugar" because it sounds more appealing/has less of a bad rep than the other? It just makes me wonder how long until they lobby to change hydrogenated to something like Vegetable Oil (CH3) because few people paid attention in chemistry class, and baffling the American consumer into submission is clearly the way to go...

I don't use cool whip very often, usually at parties during the holidays so I appreciate you listing all the ingredients. Amazing, isn't it, something so simple can have so much junk!
