Kayaking the Dan River

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Yesterday my son Cliff switched work days with a co-worker so he could go kayaking with me. We headed up to the Dan River. It turned out to be a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time. This is a short 2 1/2 minute video of little pieces taken from my Clip Video camera. Unfortunately my battery died and I missed capturing Cliff being flipped out of his kayak in the last (and largest) set of rapids. It was actually pretty funny! (Sorry for the humming sound of my camera in the waterproof housing.)

Great video. Kayaking is on my "have to do it!" list. Bet Cliff was glad your battery died. emoticon

Wow! That is so beautiful! It's so neat to have a "bird's eye" view of the river:) Is the river so muddy because it is late Spring run off?
Thank you so much for sharing; you took me away to another place.

Nice video! I have been daydreaming of the day I can get out in my kayak (it's quite a bit colder up here in North Dakota). Soon...

Cindy, you are so adventurous and I love that you have Tommy and Cliff who follow and support you. My son and his family (2 boys 13 and 16) love kayaking on the Dan. One of these days I'm gonna try vlogging.
Great job! emoticon

Impressive! You are a brave soul!
The only time I was ever on the Dan (probably 30 years ago), we were on a tubing trip and the river was so low we had to carry our tubes in places, with the water being ankle deep. This was enticing.... Might have to try it again - NOT in a kayak! I'm a chicken emoticon
