I recently read The Book of the Dead by Patricia Cornwell and in it there is mention of a discussion the character Marino has with his therapist about his drinking
He works out that he has wasted about 20 per cent of his waking hours over a long period of time due to booze
I know this is a book of fiction, but it got me thinking - when I drink of an evening I get very little done, if anything and it is such a waste as I have so many hobbies I love doing, plus there are a lot of 'empty' calories in wine!
So I am now off the booze and on the wagon for the foreseeable!
Also I have started walking round our local reservoir a couple of times a week; a distance of between 3 and 4 miles depending on which route I take - I post the results to FaceBook using Runkeeper which is great as my friends cheer me on (and take the mickey as well of course!)
So - this is the new healthy me all kick started by a book and one of my best friends who fed me a deliciously inspiring healthy breakfast the week before last... I am feeling so much better just in 2 weeks
