What I REALLY should be doing...
Wednesday, May 22, 2013
Alright, so it's almost 6:45am.
What the heck am I doing?
Why, checking SparkPeople, of course!
I've been doing good for the past couple of weeks:
-Calorie intake has been cut almost in half (I just haven't had an appetite)
-Exercise has been going well (maybe toooooo well) every morning and some afternoons
-Keeping the kitchen clean
Of course, I think I'm doing it all for the wrong reason.
Number one reason: ENVY!
I was INCREDIBLY active throughout high school and college. I never got over 130 pounds, I ate like crap, and I was outside running (literally) around every single day.
My best friend from high school (let's call her Beatrice) wasn't the active sort. Whenever going over to her house, we'd explore on the 'Gator, laze about under trees, and sit in the tree house.... when outside. Going inside, we'd raid the fridge, plop in front of the TV/computer and play HOURS of video games. When it got late, we'd either get ready and go to town to drink or we'd drink up in her room.
And we'd do this almost every single day. (Which is amazing. We lived 20minutes away from one another and 20 minutes from town).
I got kinda tired after a while of this.
Soemtime after college, she was living in the big city, started a relationship with her then-boss, and became even more out of shape (due to their mutual love of all things WoW).
After the wedding, they moved to a different state.
At this time, I'd like to point out that I was soon-to-be pregnant with the Poopmonster. (Continue on with the story! Get to the point!)
Okay, okay. Sheesh.
Anyway, moving out-of-state opened up more opportunities to explore via hiking. So while I was taking care of baby, she was getting her groove on in the mountains.
And while I was chasing the 'Monster around, she was training with her ever-supportive hubby for a half-marathon.
I guess what I'm trying to get across is that I'm jealous of Beatrice. I want to be that healthy and fit again. Maybe I can be with all of my quiet time in the mornings. And maybe now that it's nice enough out to go with the Poopmonster on expeditions and walks.
What ever this is, at least it keeps me motivated. And no matter the motivation, that's always a good thing, right?
