Hey everyone! So here's what's been going on. If you've been wondering what I've been up to (besides working out! LOL!) I've about finished with helping my Mom clean out her house. While she was gone for months in Seattle with me, parts of her house became infested with mice! My Mom was a minor hoarder and food hoarder, so that made things 100x worse! It's taken weeks now, but the house is about done and looking normal. Actually looks good! The traps (and cats) haven't caught any mice in several days and I think I've done pretty well in blocking all the ways they were getting in. Best of all, I think she has learned how to better organize things, what to keep and give away. It's nice to go to the grocery store with her and see her buying 1 or 2 of something, rather than 10 or 15.
My workouts have been going great! I was trying to incorporate more cross-training in, but have reverted to running 5 days a week with a 6th day of doing the Nordic Track ski machine. Yeah, yeah the argument can be made that your body gets used to the same type of exercise and burns less calories and blah blah blah, but I found I was so bored doing the rowing machine or whatever, I was hardly burning any calories on it. And I don't see to many fat pro marathoners and they run all the time!! LOL!
Anyway, the way I am doing it is not the same each day, and it's been fantastic. My schedule looks like this: Monday: Cross train day: Nordic Track ski Machine, Yoga for athletes. Tuesday: Running Intervals AM, Kettlebells circuit class PM. Wednesday: Trail running, "You are your own gym" strength workout. Thursday: Fast paced short tempo run AM, Kettlebells circuit class PM. Friday: DAY OFF, Easy Hatha yoga class. Saturday: Long run at pace. Sunday: Hill Repeats, "You are your own gym" strength workout. Training is going FABULOUS and I love it.
I took two days WAY off my diet to reset my metabolism, and then went to a smaller deficit of 500 calories a day to see if I could break through the plateau I was on. Well, I'm back down to the plateau weight as of today... so we'll see if I can bust through it!! I was surprised I was losing weight on the smaller deficit, but it appears that I am! I am also watching sodium levels. WOW I get bloated out from Subway. LOL!
And finally, I've got sort of a 'life plan' for now (but what is the old saying? 'Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.' LOL). I've narrowed places to live down to: Northern Indiana, where my family lives. Denver, or New Mexico - due to the days of SUN and decent cost of living. I would like to be closer to my family but, I'm scared I would get the SAD in the wintertime here. So, next week, my Mom and I are going to take a trip to the latter two places to see if it is someplace I'd consider (I've been to Denver before but it's right there by New Mexico so why not go there too LOL). If it is, I'm going to start looking for jobs in the areas I select from those. Whichever place I get the best job first, wins!!
I actually applied for a job tonight! It was as a web designer. My preference would be a job in which I could do photography, videography and web design, but I can try something new right? It's not like I am stuck doing it if it's not my complete cup of tea. I got a great job offer in Orlando, Florida last week, pay was GREAT but unfortunately it was an on-call position, and not full time. She said she has a full time position opening in Sept so if nothing else, I may go down there!
Life is nice now, with so much sunshine, and I love it. I determined I MUST have sunshine! It's like I have a solar cell! My Mom is amazed at the difference in me, but if you recall my blog posts from last year at this time, that's just how I am! The Energizer Bunny! I've also realized though that the sun, while it gives me energy, appears to also be a cause of the insomnia I've not been able to figure out a cause for years. I am only sleeping 4-5 1/2 hours a night lately. I'd rather have that than depression from lack of light, but still I am working on finding a fix for that, too. Sometimes, I feel tired from the lack of sleep, my body needs more recovery from workouts, and my sleep schedule is all messed up now too.
